Cadmean Victory

They do not want for something to sayTree at top of park.
They run around and play all day
Syllabicating back and forth
No one asks what another is worth

At night they climb trees to sleep
They dream of mouths of lips and teeth
And breath of a land where speech
Is silly and fluid and free

Having no bowels they don’t see
The lithe ape thinking in a tree
Who would trap them in a man
And call himself can

  1. Like the echo … silly and fluid and free …
Also enjoyed the John Cage links. Been some time.
Going to listen to silence now, and my heartbeat, and the multitude of heartbeats in the world.

On the politician theory, I began to syllabicate and your title suggests my own bent.
The clue lies in the penultimate of each of the words.
I am still musing over the subject of your great work. Me thinks ‘fresh air’ may be the answer – outside of that, I am stumped.B

Yes, fresh air. Somewhere we can forget about words for a space. Sort of like this, but it might play better in an outdoor concert.

It never ceases to amaze just what people will do. On one hand the audience will sit through a performance of ‘Nothing’ and on the other, an audience will complain about value for money. What a wired and wonderful world we live in.
I especially liked the ‘second movement’. I found it profoundly up-lifting as it weft it’s way through the forest of giant trees, briefly pausing to view the swinging – swaying placentals as they conducted their futile discourse.
As this classic piece approached its crescendo, acorns as if from heaven fell about me and I was awakened from my silence induced dream.
I had found ‘ nothing’ and my search had ended.B

Yes, that nothing at the end of the line. If you have never seen Cage’s “Water Walk,” check it out. It’s difficult in poems to do this sort of thing, but there are poems that come close, the “silly and fluid and free.”

    Politicians or acorns Joe?
    Shallow victories indeed.

Interesting reading, B. The primal primate politician. Vote for me and I’ll give you language, or at least an alphabet.
