boo-b00ing and who-wh00ing
up and down the haunted block.”
“Once, I went as my father,
and was tricked to snake out
a bewitched litter box.
Dad thought that was a treat.”
“I used to go as my mother
and stay home and pass out
the treats and clean up
after the tricks.”
“Remember the year you dressed
as an octopus? Your purple pelisse
swept the falling leaves, the swish
the only sound across the street.”
“It’s been my habit lately
to sneak out as a house cat,
playing with the position
of my ears and tail – Purrr.”

Halloween is such a strange mix of sources, customs, traditions, influence – all that stuff. Working on audio for a Halloween Hootenanny.
Made me dig out old negatives. A headmistress at my son’s primary school once dressed up as witch and frightened the hell out of kids.
Trick or Treat visit have declinded in recent years. I still keep some treats in the house, in case.
Yes, the evening randomings on the wane, and I’ve known school principals dressed in everyday garb who still scared the hell out of us kids. School as theatre.
I remember such terrifying priniples too, guised in their roles.
Halloween was always my favorite. Looked forward to all the “little children” dressed in whatever costume was popular at the time. For the last few years I have been visited primarily by the high school set who don’t even attempt to come in costume. The fun is gone so now instead of staying home I go out and find an alternate activity for myself. Happy Halloween Joe.
Might make an interesting short film, say 20 years or so of Halloween trick or treaters coming to the same door, each year taking up a few minutes of film, all strung together. Happy Halloween Geannie.
I actually have grown kids that went to school with my kids who now bring their kids and kids my daughters babysat for bringing their bundles of joy.
Ah, Tradition! That’s cool.
