The concrete poem, “A Visual Depiction of the Chapter ‘On a Surfboard in Santa Monica Bay,’” published yesterday by VERStype, is an illustration that might appear somewhere in the sixth chapter of “Penina’s Letters,” were the novel a comic book. There are no words in the poem. The poem is composed primarily of tildes.

:) The idea of a ‘Theory of Everything,’ simple or otherwise, brings up the image of a hand reaching longingly into the sky. Looked up ‘The Waltzing Matilda,’ fascinating story https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waltzing_Matilda

So that what it’s called, tildes. To me they are dancing dashes. For some reason I thought the shape was derived by some computerised process – way off course here. I was thinking of these representations of the orbital motions of planets… http://astrosoftware.com/PlanetMandalasAndNewScience.htm …scroll down to the images.

Yes, tilde (singular), which may derive from Waltzing Matilda, which in turn may have inspired Garret Lisi’s “An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything,” where E8 is used to “visually depict” and resolve gravity and time and friends and their cats and dogs in a moving mandala: https://joelinker.wordpress.com/2008/07/18/theory-of-nothing-something-and-everything-in-between/
